MOSTAR, Mar 7 (FENA) - Workshop on "Possibilities of cooperation between the Republic of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina through programs of European Territorial Cooperation" was held on Wednesday in Mostar.
The workshop was organized by the Government of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HNC) and the Center for European Integration and the Projects of the Mostar University.
On behalf of the Prime Minister HNC, those present on the occasion were welcomed by the Head of the Cabinet of the PM, Veselko Cerkez, who expressed his satisfaction that the HNC was recognized as a canton that both strived and could be a reliable partner in cross-border cooperation programs.
- The HNC Government is committed to stronger participation in cross-border cooperation projects, and as one of the most important priorities in the work we have defined participation in programs such as: MEDITERAN, DUNAV and so-called trilateral program. This commitment was further strengthened by last year's adoption of the Integrated Development Strategy of the HNC, which, along with high environmental standards as key sectors of economic development, identifies small and medium-sized entrepreneurship, renewable energy sources and tourism based on the natural and multicultural diversity of the Canton - Cerkez said .
According to his words, opportunities offered through various programs of transnational and cross-border cooperation require the possession of greater knowledge and institutional capacity than the HNC currently has.
- Thanks to friends who have the knowledge, experience, goodwill and a clear vision of European territorial cooperation programs, about which we will talk about today, I do not doubt that they will educate and enrich us, through lectures and workshops, with new knowledge and extremely welcome and useful information - said Mr. Cerkez, pointing out that the HNC Government is ready to remain a reliable partner in all cooperation programs.
According to the statement issued by the Information Office of the HNC Government, those present were also addressed by Dr. Mirjana Milicevic, Head of the Center for European Integration and Projects of the University of Mostar; Jadranka Modric, Assistant to the Consul of the Republic of Croatia in Bosnia and Herzegovina; Zana Corić, a Special Advisor for the Croats in BiH at the Central State Office for Croats outside Croatia: Mrs. Stella Arneri, Director of the Agency for Regional Development of the Republic of Croatia; and Kristina Bilic, Assistant to the Croatian Minister for Regional Development and EU Funds.
At the workshop, the territorial cooperation was presented with a focus on programs in which BiH participates: i.e. INTERREG IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Program Croatia-Bosnia and Herzegovina-Montenegro 2014-2020 and transnational cooperation programs INTERREG Mediterranean and Danube 2014-2020.
Today's workshop is held in partnership of the Central State Office for Croats outside the Republic of Croatia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs, the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds and the Regional Development Agency.
