SARAJEVO, February 21 (FENA) - BiH Presidency Chairman Dragan Čović and members of the Presidency Bakir Izetbegović and Mladen Ivanić informed OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger about the current situation in BiH and stressed that BiH’s commitment was to become a full member of the European Union.
They expressed hope that the submission of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s responses to the European Commission Questionnaire for the Preparation of the Opinion on BiH's application for membership in the European Union to senior officials of the EU at the end of this month will be an incentive for acceleration of the fulfillment of the requirements for EU membership.
They also stressed that the EU Enlargement Strategy showed that Bosnia and Herzegovina has a European future, respecting all norms and implementing the necessary reforms.
The topics of the meeting were also the issue of amendments to the BiH Election Law, as well as the upcoming general elections. The collocutors also discussed the situation in the media and public services.
The BiH Presidency members emphasized the important role of the OSCE in BiH and expressed their gratitude for the contribution and assistance to BiH, especially in fulfilling its international obligations, as well as in the election process, defense and security reforms.
Secretary General Greminger welcomed BiH's active role in the OSCE. He expressed the interest of the OSCE for relevant political and socio-economic processes, and the focus is on the process of European integration and the implementation of the Reform Agenda.
Mr. Greminger expressed support for the European path of BiH, confirming that the OSCE Mission will remain an important partner in improving the rule of law, combating corruption, and implementing reforms in education and justice, stated the BiH Presidency.
