FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, February 16 (FENA) - The Decision on temporary suspension and temporary reduction of customs tariffs on import of selected goods, recently adopted by the Council of Ministers of BiH, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH has created a significantly more favorable business climate for investments in BiH, it was concluded today at the meeting of Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Mirko Šarović with Slovenian Ambassador to BiH Zorica Bukinac.

The decision, which also applies to raw materials used by BiH producers in their own production and which cannot be procured in BiH, is very important for raising the standards of production and competitiveness of domestic producers.

“Facilitating the import of equipment that cannot be purchased in BiH is very important for our companies, which want to expand and modernize their businesses. Slovenia is among the "top five" investors in BiH and our imperative in the coming period is to create even better conditions for significant investments,” stressed Minister Šarović.

It is encouraging to see that the investments from Slovenia have increased, unlike the previous years, and in addition to investments, the volume of commodity exchange has been increasing as well.

The total exchange volume between BiH and Slovenia is currently about 10 billion euros, and more importantly. BiH has achieved a balance in import-export ratio with Slovenia.

Ambassador of Slovenia expressed full support for the activities of Minister Šarović in order to improve the business climate in BiH and they have agreed cooperation on activities of providing support to businesses interested in investing in BiH, stated the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH.
