Čović-Wigemark: EU Enlargement Strategy an incentive for BiH

SARAJEVO, February 15 (FENA) - The BiH Presidency Chairman Dragan Čović met today with the Head of the EU Delegation to BiH and EU Special Representative to BiH Lars Gunnar Wigemark.

The two officials talked about BiH's progress on the EU and NATO integration path and the amendments to the Election Law.

Čović informed Wigemark that all responses to the European Commission Questionnaire have been completed and that they will be submitted to EU officials on 28 February.

He also emphasized that it is extremely important for BiH to obtain a candidate status as soon as possible, and that everything will be done in order to achieve this.

They also commented on the European Union Enlargement Strategy and stressed that it provides additional incentive for BiH on the EU path.

Čović and Wigemark discussed the amendments to the Election Law and Čović once again stressed that the changes must ensure the legitimate representation of the constituent peoples, in accordance with the judgment of the Constitutional Court of BiH, referring to the election of members of the BiH Presidency and the deputies in the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH, stated the BiH Presidency.

Čović also stated that legitimate elections cannot be held in October 2018, and the results implemented without these amendments.
