SARAJEVO, February 9 (FENA) - The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Executive Board concluded today a first overview of the economic performance of Bosnia and Herzegovina under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) and BiH received a total of 63.4 million SDR (around 74.6 million euros), bringing the total amount delivered to date to 126.8 million SDR (149.3 million euros).
As stated by the IMF Resident Representative's Office, the Executive Board approved on 7 November 2016 a three-year arrangement under the EFF for BiH in the amount of 443,042 million SDR (approximately 533.3 million euros at the time the arrangement was approved).
After the Executive Board’s discussion, the Board Deputy Director and Acting Chairman Tao Zhang said that Bosnia and Herzegovina had continued to make progress in reducing internal and external imbalances over the last few years.
“The authorities have also implemented economic policies and structural reforms under the program supported by the IMF, including maintaining fiscal discipline, preserving financial stability and improving the business environment. It is important that the authorities continue their efforts in terms of strengthening the potential for growth and addressing structural weaknesses while maintaining economic and financial stability,” Mr. Zhang said.
