SARAJEVO, February 9 (FENA) - The second debate on local economic and sustainable development, organized in Zvornik by the Office of the EU Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina (EUSR), caused great interest and an active discussion of the gathered citizens, entrepreneurs, representatives of public administration and companies, as well as organizations of young people, students of secondary schools and universities.
The hosts of the debate were the Head of the EU Delegation and EU Special Representative in BiH, Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to BiH Ivan Del Vechio. Local and regional experts actively participated in the discussion.
“The main objective of our activities is to point out the importance of local communities in the process of European integration, and in this way we have the opportunity to meet with people from different spheres and see their experiences and needs, but also to highlight the importance of launching local initiatives,” said Mr. Wigemark pointing to the geographical importance of Zvornik and the entire region of Birač.
The main themes discussed during the debate concerned addressing numerous administrative problems that burden the economy, but also the opportunities for accessing European Union funds for tourism development and support to young entrepreneurs in Zvornik.
After the debate, an informative and educational fair was organized, featuring representatives of EU-funded projects that directly contribute to the economic and sustainable development of local communities, the organizers said.
