MOSTAR, Feb 9 (FENA) - The minimum on which the HNS BiH representatives insist regarding the Election Law is to provide legitimate representation of constituent peoples at all levels of government, in accordance with the decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH – told reports on Friday in Mostar Dragan Covic, President of the Croatian National Assembly (HNS) and HDZ of BiH.
- It means to provide for legitimacy in the election of members of the BiH Presidency, caucus of the houses of peoples as well as that regarding the City of Mostar - Covic explained.
At the session of the HNS BiH Presidency held in Mostar on Friday, the current political situation was discussed. It was concluded that the strategic interest of the Croatian people in BiH is the Euro-Atlantic path of BiH – Covic added.
Asked by journalists whether meetings with representatives of the international community on the Election Law had started, Covic pointed out that there had been a lot of meetings in the last few months.
According to his words , by the end of February, some sort of result should be seen, i.e. success or failure of these talks that representatives of political parties in BiH held with different international representatives.
Covic added that the elections should be called on in the first week of May.
- We have three months ahead of us. I will keep advocating that there is enough time to agree on the minimum we have set- Covic said.
- At the end of February the European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker will arrive in BiH, and then the questionnaire should be handed, but until then it should be known " how far we have reached with preparations for a common position on the amendments to the Election Law." that can be approved by the parliamentary majority- Covic said.
He underscored that the political climate was contaminated due to the nervousness as to how to make changes and some ones being eager to keep the status quo. He said that "by the end of February we will be aware of reality, whatever it is".
Covic declined to comment on the filing of the criminal report by the Mostar detention camp inmates against him and Bozo Ljubic.
- I deeply believe in this country with all its imperfections. So the institutions that received the paper will deal with it, Covic noted.
As for the Declaration adopted by the Assembly of the Herzeg-Bosnian Canton on the ICTY verdict , Cović pointed out that every institution could make declarations, resolutions, conclusions ...
"I think everything is in the function of this climate and these three months ahead of us," Covic concluded.
