Mašić: Sarajevo must not be left without gas supply

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, February 9 (FENA) - A deputy in the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and President of the Sarajevo Cantonal Board of the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina (SDP BiH) Damir Mašić has requested that the governments of FBiH and the Sarajevo Canton give guarantees that the citizens of Sarajevo will not be left without gas supply at any cost and under any circumstances.

Otherwise, he will demand the holding of extraordinary sessions of the FBiH Parliament and the Sarajevo Canton Assembly in order to reach a solution jointly in these institutions.

“The threats that we heard in recent days that Sarajevo could be left without natural gas supply, are completely unacceptable. The responsibility of the FBiH and cantonal authorities is to secure the safe gas supply of the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and I ask Prime Minister Fadil Novalić and the cantonal PM Elmedin Konaković to explain to the public what they plan to do to ensure that Sarajevo will not be left without natural gas. These two governments must not allow the unresolved relations between the gas companies from the two entities, to be used to intimidate hundreds of thousands of citizens of Sarajevo that someone off their gas supply, the same as it was done during the war as a special terror and warfare method to which citizens of Sarajevo were exposed,” stressed Mašić.
