FENA Press release

ZAGREB, February 6 (FENA) - BiH Presidency Chairman Dragan Čović met in Zagreb with President of the Republic of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović. The topics of the meeting were the recent visit of the President of the Republic of Croatia to Bosnia and Herzegovina and further steps in the cooperation between the two countries.

They also discussed the need for an urgent amending of the BiH Election Law.

The collocutors agreed that only the legitimacy of the representation forms the basis for the implementation of the basic principle of constitutionality and that it is clear that the amendments to the Election Law must ensure the legitimate representation of constituent peoples in accordance with the judgments of the BiH Constitutional Court.

This also applies to the election of members of the BiH Presidency and the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament, during which viable solutions must be strived for, which at best implement, or at least do not deviate from the relevant decisions of the European Human Rights Court.

The BiH Presidency Chairman Čović informed President Grabar-Kitarović about Bosnia and Herzegovina's remaining obligations on its Euro-Atlantic path, as well as the next steps that need to be taken.

President Grabar-Kitarović again emphasized the support of the Republic of Croatia in the process of European integration, stated the BiH Presidency.
