SARAJEVO, February 6 (FENA) – BiH Minister of Defense Marina Pendeš met today with Ambassador of the Republic of Italy to Bosnia and Herzegovina Nicola Minasi, with whom she discussed current defense and military cooperation between BiH and the Republic of Italy.
Ms. Pendeš thanked Ambassador Minasi for today’s visit and the support that Italy has given to BiH.
She stressed that defense cooperation was continuously improving through the implementation of the signed cooperation plans and informed Ambassador Minasi about important activities of the BiH MoD, including destruction of surplus of unstable weaponry and participation in peace support operations with EU forces for the purpose of preserving security, stability and peace, which is also a common interest of BiH and EU members.
Ambassador Minasi thanked Minister Pendeš for the reception and noted that the Republic of Italy wanted to achieve strong cooperation with BiH and that it is determined to help BiH on its way toward Euro-Atlantic integration.
He stressed the good cooperation between BiH and the Republic of Italy in the field of defense and presented a number of possibilities for improving this cooperation.
Ambassador Minasi on this occasion announced the arrival of the Commander of the Supreme Headquarters of the Italian Army to the BiH Armed Forces.
The meeting was also attended by the military envoy of the Republic of Italy to BiH, Colonel Paolo Sparaa and Assistant Minister of Defense for International Cooperation Zoran Šajinović, stated the BiH MoD Public Relations Office.
