SARAJEVO, January 31 (FENA) - MPs in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina rejected the proposed amendments to the Election Law of BiH today.

They did not support the proposal of the Croat Caucus in the House of Peoples or the Croat Democratic Union (HDZ BiH), as well as the proposal of a deputy from the Party of Democratic Action (SDA).

The HDZ’s proposal was rejected in an urgent legislative procedure, and in the first reading, the MPs rejected the amendments to the Election Law proposed by SDA. Only the deputies of that party voted in favor.

The Bill on amendments to the Law on excise tax in Bosnia and Herzegovina, whose proponents were members of the independent bloc Salko Sokolović, Senad Šepić and Sadik Ahmetović, did not receive support because the House supported the negative opinion of the Constitutional Committee.

The House rejected in the first reading the amendments to the Framework Law on Higher Education, as well as the amendments to the Law on Sports, proposed by an MP of the Alliance for a Better Future (SBB), Mirsad Đonlagić.

The Bill on amendments to the Law on Ombudsman for Human Rights proposed by the Council of Ministers was supported in the first reading, along with the amendments to the Law on the Protection of Persons Reporting Corruption in BiH.
