SARAJEVO, January 30 (FENA) - The Council of Ministers of BiH, at the proposal of the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH, today adopted a Decision on the conditions and procedure for exercising the right to exemption from payment of import and export duties in order to comply with the existing customs regulations of the European Union.
The Decision prescribes the conditions and procedure for exercising the right to exemption from payment of import duties in accordance with Article 207 of the Law on Customs Policy of BiH.
Equipment that is a foreigner's investment, excluding passenger vehicles, machines for entertainment and betting games are exempt from taxation. Production equipment that is not available in BiH is also exempt if it is being imported for the new or expanding the existing production, modernization of production, introduction of new, or modernization of existing production technology is also exempt from import duties.
The exemption also stands for goods for military and police as well as penitentiary institutions, which are fully funded by donor. Import duties also do not apply on goods imported for the purpose of demining, goods for reconstruction projects in BiH, if the project has been adopted by the Council of Ministers of BiH and fully funded by foreign donors or international development banks, and are partly financed from the budget.
In addition to this, the Decision stipulates that, in accordance with the Law on Customs Policy of BiH, a traveler can transfer non-commercial goods without payment of import duties, in the value of up to 600 KM, instead of the current 200 KM, thus harmonizing the Decision with the regulations of the European Union and the amount of 300 euros.
The Decision also strictly defines the quantitative limits for tobacco and tobacco products, alcohol and alcoholic beverages, the BiH Council of Ministers announced.
