SARAJEVO, January 29 (FENA) – The first consultative meeting of the Working Group for preparation of text of the Law on Local Self-Government in the Sarajevo Canton was held by the SC Minister of Justice and Administration Mario Nenadić and his associates with the representatives of the OSCE, the non-governmental organization Centers for Civic Initiatives (CCI), the Ministry of Finance, the City of Sarajevo and the municipalities in the SC.
The task of the Working Group is to prepare the text of the above-mentioned law by precisely regulating the competencies of the Canton, the City and the municipalities that are part of the City and outside it, and to prepare appropriate legal and other solutions in accordance with other adopted amendments.
On this occasion, Mr. Nenadić announced that he would talk to the OSCE about the possibilities of them supporting a special project whose task would be to further clarify the issues of the Sarajevo Canton’s property in connection with the law on self-government, ownership of public revenues, as well as the issues of transfer of ownership rights and the management of transferred property and other rights, before the law enters the legislative process.
“When the law on self-government comes into force, it will have to be aligned with the Law on Communal Activities, i.e. with the competencies of local self-government units, on taking over the founding rights over the cantonal public companies within agreed and legally prescribed deadlines,” said Mr. Nenadić, stated the Sarajevo Canton PR office.
