MOSTAR, January 26 (FENA) - On the occasion of the 24th anniversary of the killing of 3 reporters of the Italian RAI TV Marc Luchetta, Dario D'Angelo and Alessandro Ota, who got killed on January 28, 1994 in Mostar, flowers were laid on the scene of their mu death.
Those present on the occasion were the Italian Ambassador to BiH, Nicola Minas, the Head of the OSCE Mission to BiH, Bruce Berton, a representative of the Italian Parliament Marco Bergonzi, and the wife of one of the dead reporter, Milenka Rustia Ota.
Ambassador Minas has recalled that the RAI reporters were making a story of the impact of war on children, and they were killed in the explosion of a mortar shell.
- They wanted to make the story on the suffering of this society during the war. They worked on the story of children in war without making any difference or division. They wanted to present the story to Italian society, because it is important for journalists to tell the truth - said the Italian ambassador.
The Head of the OSCE Mission to BiH Berton said that commemoration honored three journalists who had been killed while doing their job.
- War journalism is a dangerous profession, and this tragedy confirmed that. It's important to remember what happened here and not to forget their sacrifice - Berton said.
Representative in the Italian Parliament, Marco Bergonzi, said that today's event was not just a commemoration, but much more than that.
Upon laying flowers at the memorial, the RAI's documentary film about three reporters and several staffs, which that they recorded in Mostar on the day of their killing, was shown in the City Hall in Mostar, after which a debate on freedom of the media and expression was held.
