SARAJEVO, January 21 (FENA) - Chairman of the Delegation of Parliamentary Assembly of BiH (BiH PA) in Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe (PACE) Senad Šepić told FENA that PACE will consider the Report on situation in BiH at next week’s session and adopt a resolution on our country.

“Proposal resolution that was prepared by rapporteurs and unanimously adopted by the Monitoring Committee of the Council of Europe is a very balanced document, which on the one hand welcomes some progress in the country regarding agreement on the reform agenda and population census, and on the other expresses concern over lack of results regarding the Strategy for processing war crimes and completion of the process of locating missing persons,” said Šepić.

He added that the resolution on BiH clearly condemns nationalist and ethnic rhetoric, and calls for strengthening of democratic institutions, adoption of transparent law on conflict of interest and financing of political parties and enhancing the fight against corruption and crime in BiH.

According to him the Council of Europe “is aware of the fact that this authority has no capacity or political will to do that but institutions of the Council of Europe will continue their monitoring and look for possibilities to help the European perspective of BiH”.

Apart from this resolution, BiH will also be a current topic during the January session because of election of human rights commissioner of Council of Europe, because Dunja Mijatović from BiH is one of the serious candidates for this position.

“We expect Dunja to be appointed, which would be a great victory for our country and an event that would bring new, positive stories from and for BiH,” said Šepić.

Chairman of the Delegation of Parliamentary Assembly of BiH (BiH PA) in Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe (PACE) Senad Šepić, Deputy Chair Borjana Krišto and members of the delegation Mladen Bosić, Milica Marković and Damir Arnaut will take part in the First Part of PACE session on January 22-26 in Strasbourg.
