SARAJEVO, January 18 (FENA) - Representatives of the Farma II project and 11 BiH poultry companies signed today in Sarajevo agreements on granting non-refundable funds in the sector of poultry in the total amount of 600,000 KM.
Eighty-two organizations from all parts of BiH responded to the tender invitation for non-refundable funds to improve competitiveness in the poultry sector announced by USAID/Sweden Farma II project, and 11 were selected.
Vice President of the BiH Foreign Trade Chamber Nemanja Vasić emphasized that the food industry sector has a special significance for the Chamber and that the poultry industry in BiH is on an enviable level.
“The coverage of imports by export in the poultry sector is 174 percent and last year the sector grew by eight percent,” Mr. Vasić explained.
Head of the USAID’s Economic Department in BiH Andrew Boegel said that those who signed grant agreements today showed a serious commitment to their business and have a vision they know how to achieve.
He added that the Farma II project had recognized poultry as a sector with significant potential, and it could soon be implemented in the EU market as well.
The grant beneficiaries are Madi (Tešanj), Farmavit (Ljubinje), Kiko (Bijeljina), Brovis (Visoko), Poljovet (Gradačac), Agromix (Doboj), Zdravko Grozdanović from Derventa, RS Livestock Farmers’ Association from Srbac, Bios-s (Srebrenica), Avis DM (Srbac) and Andrić Farm (Pelagićevo).
