EU Delegation: Celebration of Day of RS on January 9 violates BiH Constitution

FENA Hana Imamović

SARAJEVO, January 9 (FENA) – The European Union Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina recalls that the decision of the BiH Constitutional Court declared as unconstitutional the celebration of the Day of Republika Srpska (RS) on January the 9th and stresses that the EU attaches great significance to the unimpeded functioning of democratic institutions, including the implementation of decisions of the Constitutional Court.

In a statement for FENA, they urged all political leaders in BiH to refrain from divisive rhetoric and focus on important political and economic reforms.

Regardless of the fact that the Constitutional Court has declared January 9th as the Day of RS unconstitutional, a manifestation marking this unconstitutional date was organized in Banja Luka today.

RS President Milorad Dodik presented a medal to former Serbian president Tomislav Nikolić. There was also a parade of members of police, firefighters, hunters and other departments, as well as a solemn ceremony and a reception.
