SARAJEVO, January 9 (FENA) – BiH Presidency Member Bakir Izetbegović expressed his full support for Iran’s stability and prosperity, at today’s meeting with Iranian Ambassador to BiH Mahmoud Heidari.
Mr. Heidari informed Mr. Izetbegović about the current situation in Iran and the developments after the demonstrations in the country.
The Iranian ambassador said that the latest events ended with the expression of mass support from citizens to the government and to the Iranian political leadership.
He noted that Iranian laws and practices allow peaceful protests, which are a guaranteed right to express different opinions.
According to Mr. Heidari, peaceful protests, under the influence of hostile emigrants, turned into violent demonstrations, leading to the deaths of 20 people and the burning of government buildings in the provinces, to which the police forces had to intervene.
The officials also discussed, among other things, the bilateral relations between BiH and Iran, with a special emphasis on creating better preconditions for improving economic cooperation, the BiH Presidency said.
