Covic: Amendments to Election Law of BiH will be adopted by May 2018.

FENA

MOSTAR, Jan 8 (FENA) -  On Monday in Mostar,  Chairman of the HDZ  BiH,  Dragan Covic,  expressed his  confidence that amendments to the Election Law of BiH would  be adopted by May 7 or 8 this year,   so that  elections could be called, which are scheduled to be held in BiH  on the first Sunday in October this year.

- I am convinced that it will be enough wisdom in BiH to resolve the issue of the Election Law and to deal with it in parallel with many other things that we  failed to  finish last year -  Covic said at the press conference held in Mostar.

Asked what would happen if the Election Law  had not been changed  before the elections, Covic responded that until then he would  exploit  all possibilities  for that not to  fail.

Asked if the coalition partners in the Federation of BiH would  reach agreement  to convene   sessions of the House of Representatives and the House of Peoples of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Covic said that the answer to the question would be available  within seven days  from both the parties in power  and the opposition with whom he had talked.

On the occasion, Covic  declined to  comment on the celebration of the   January 9  - the Republika Srpska Day, pointing out  that the Day  will  be celebrated  in a way  the executive and legislative authorities in the RS and those who live there agree upon.

Covic was also   asked to  comment on as to how the  Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic would lobby in Croatia for changes  of the Election Law in BiH. He responded  that the President of the Republic of Croatia would be on official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina on 17 and 18 January,  declining to speculate on what she would do until then.

 - My communication with the authorities in the Republic of Croatia is regular and continuous, and that what I always ask for in the communication  is the same  to that what I demand for BiH in communication with all the partners  throuhout the world:  a legitimate representation of constituent peoples,  constitutionality in line with the decisions of the Constitutional Court,  and to turn to the European future.
