SARAJEVO, May 19 (FENA) - The EU Strategy Forum for the Adriatic-Ionian Region (EUSAIR) and the annual meeting of the Council of the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative (JJI) at the level of foreign minister,s will be held in Sarajevo from May 23 to 25, announced the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The introductory panel will be on the topic "The role of the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative and EUSAIR in accelerating the process of European integration", where the participants will be the ministers of foreign affairs of the member countries of JJI and/or the ministers responsible for the EUSAIR strategy and a representative of the European Commission.
The forum will be the final event of Bosnia and Herzegovina's one-year chairmanship of the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative/EUSAIR, which took over the chairmanship from Albania on June 1, 2022.
The presidency formally ends on May 31 this year, when Croatia will take over that role.
EUSAIR, one of the four EU macro-regional strategies, is an instrument for strengthening regional cooperation with the aim of encouraging growth, sustainable development and bringing the countries of the Western Balkans closer to the European Union.
In addition to EUSAIR, BiH also participates in the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR).
