SARAJEVO, October 25 (FENA) - The progress that Bosnia and Herzegovina has made in migration management has been recognized and positively evaluated by European and international partners. In the continuation of the implementation of measures in the fight against illegal migration, the Czech Republic will provide support to BiH through financial assistance in the readmission, i.e. the return of migrants to their countries of origin.

The project worth 286,000 euros will be implemented through the International Center for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) and the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The signing of the agreement between the Minister of the Interior of the Czech Republic, Vit Rakušan, and the director of the ICMPD, Michael Spindelegger, was also attended by the representative of the BiH Ministry of Security, Saša Kecman, and the director of the Joint Coordination Platform (JCP), Berndt Korner.

The signing of the agreement was held on the sidelines of the Prague Process Ministerial Conference dedicated to current challenges in the field of migration. During the meeting, a joint declaration and a five-year action plan were adopted, which envisages joint measures for more efficient migration management.

During the address of the BiH representative, it was emphasized that for more efficient management of migrant flows, it is necessary to strengthen regional and international cooperation in the field of migration, as well as increase border control. It is necessary to continue predicting future migration trends to ensure efficient long-term responses to migrant flows via the "Balkan route".

Also, the importance of a functional policy of returning migrants to their countries of origin was highlighted, as well as the proposed organization of joint charter flights for the countries of the Western Balkans.

The Service for Foreigners’ Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina has started the removal of illegal migrants to their countries of origin and this activity will continue through this project, announced the Ministry of Security of BiH.
