SARAJEVO, October 12 (FENA) - Secretary General of the Democratic Front (DF) Dženan Đonlagić believes that the recommended candidate status does not mean that Bosnia and Herzegovina will ever be a member of the European Union.
With these latest changes, Christian Schmidt, who has cemented the ethnic lines through his electoral stunts, has distanced us from credible membership in the EU. One of the important institutions of the EU is the Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. With his latest decision, Schmidt sent a clear message to the citizens that he does not care about the Strasbourg judgments, nor the judgment of the domestic Constitutional Court regarding the election of the president and vice president of the FBiH.
This EC recommendation is only a consequence of Russian military aggression against Ukraine, and not because EU representatives want Bosnia and Herzegovina in their membership. So, does anyone think that we have forgotten Orban's statement: "The challenge with Bosnia is how to integrate a country with 2 million Muslims"... This statement actually exposed all the weaknesses and hypocrisy of what is now called the European Union," said Đonlagić in his reaction.
He adds that what the EC stated as conditions that BiH should fulfill is something that "politically is certainly in the hands of Čović and Dodik, bearing in mind the fact that Schmidt cemented the HDZ in power with his latest decision".
"After Schmidt's decision, the HDZ does not even have to participate in the elections any longer except for the level of cantonal assemblies and it will have a guaranteed position in the FBiH Government (through the FBiH House of Peoples) and in the State House of Peoples," asserted Đonlagić, quoting at the end the lyrics of Đorđe Balašević's poem "Move on, Europe" (Putuj Evropo) for which he says fit perfectly with today's topic.
