Eight million euros will be secured to better respond to serious security threats

This was announced today in Sarajevo, when the representatives of the OSCE Mission presented the goals of the project and thanked the donor countries (Norway, Liechtenstein, Austria, Turkey, Germany and Luxembourg) that provided funds for the implementation of this important project.

The project objectives are based on the findings and a comprehensive needs assessment conducted in partnership with law enforcement agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Acting Head of the OSCE Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Susan Penksa, said today that within the framework of this project, there will be close cooperation with international and domestic partners to fulfill long-standing needs for police modernization in BiH.

The implementation of projects begins at a time when BiH is facing growing organized threats to its security, including hybrid threats such as the recent cyber attack on the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.

During the implementation of the project, 16 law enforcement agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina should be trained with the necessary capacities to effectively deal with complex and sophisticated security threats, risks and criminal acts.

Penska stated that this project will include support in strengthening criminal-intelligence analytics and decision-making through IT system improvements - software and hardware.

Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Olav Reinertsen, said that Bosnia and Herzegovina and Norway have had diplomatic bilateral relations for 27 years, and with this project we enter a new area of relations, that is, police work based on intelligence data.

The model of police work based on intelligence data is recognized in a large number of democratic states, which is why BiH Assistant Minister of Security Samir Rizvo believes that it will contribute to BiH continuing to create conditions for a safe environment.
