SREBRENICA, September 13 (FENA) - "Home for the Mothers of Srebrenica", a retirement facility whose beneficiaries are primarily Srebrenica mothers and other elderly people from the Podrinje area, will be officially opened in Potočari on October 23, Assistant Director of the Association "HO International Solidarity Forum - Emmaus" Elmedin Škrebo, stating that the protocol for the official opening is being prepared, confirmed to FENA.
The project is worth 4.5 million KM, 50 percent of the funds were provided by the Proplan Foundation from the Netherlands, and the rest of the funds were provided by domestic donors, such as the Federal Ministry of Displaced Persons and Refugees, Rijaset of the Islamic Community, municipalities from Turkey, the City of Novi Pazar, the Municipality Ilijaš, Government of Sarajevo Canton, the informal group "Ramadan Iftars" and others.
The accommodation capacity is 84 beds in the entire complex, and there will be around 30 users to begin with.
- Beneficiaries are primarily mothers from Srebrenica and other elderly people from the Podrinje area. We are pleased that we also have requests for accommodation of people who are natives of Podrinje and live outside of Srebrenica. The Mothers of Srebrenica will not have any obligation to pay for accommodation, but we will find the funds through our donors. Our priority is the mothers who are in Podrinje, and we will try to establish a market price for other people. One group of former users of boarding school accommodation is currently undergoing training for caregivers of the elderly, and that group will work with the mothers of Srebrenica - pointed out Škrebo.
MFS-EMMAUS is a domestic, non-governmental humanitarian organization founded in 1999 with the aim of providing assistance to all vulnerable categories of the population.
