SARAJEVO, August 29 (FENA) - The coordination of the association of families of missing persons in Bosnia and Herzegovina on the occasion of the International Day of Missing Persons - August 30, warns the public that even after 27 years since the end of hostilities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the records of missing persons still, unfortunately, hold about 7,600 people.

"The number of missing persons is the most impressive indicator that wars do not end with the silence of weapons and that the consequences of war are long-term, painful and traumatic," it was pointed out in the statement.

The issue of missing persons, they added, is the biggest humanitarian issue and is not only a problem for the families of missing persons, but also for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The passage of time and the lack of political will are our biggest enemies. Appreciating the efforts made and the results achieved by the institutions involved in solving the fates of missing persons, we emphasize that for the families of 7,600 persons who are still listed as missing, this means nothing because they still live in uncertainty and struggle to find out the truth about their loved ones.

They appeal to all citizens to show a moral obligation and if they have any information about the potential locations of individual, or mass graves, to report it to the Institute for Missing Persons, the BiH Prosecutor's Office, or the State Investigations and Protection Agency.
