SARAJEVO, August 11 (FENA) - President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Marinko Čavara, said today that the judges of the Constitutional Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina were not appointed because there is no political agreement, and that is the main reason.

He reminded that the High Representative in BiH, Christian Schmidt, sent a letter to the president and vice-presidents of FBiH, as well as to the members of the joint collegium of the FBiH Parliament, in which he called on them to appoint judges to the Constitutional Court of FBiH and to the Council for the Protection of Vital Interests.

“Tomorrow I will write a letter to the high representative and express my position and what I think in it. I see the letter from the High Representative as a support to solve the problems in the Federation of BiH. I will see how we can expect that support in solving all the key problems. Tomorrow I will send a letter to Schmidt,” said Čavara.

He also said that everyone should work on stabilizing relations, reaching agreements and talks, and that we should never doubt that we can come to an agreement.

“This can be a wonderful country, we just need to understand and talk more and respect everyone,” stated Čavara.

When asked if there is a justification for not appointing judges, because he received names of the judges of FBiH Constitutional Court from the list submitted and determined by the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council in BiH back in 2019, he says that it is a matter of political relations, not the will of the President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“There can be no question that I can be responsible for the general situation in the Federation of BiH. All the problems in the Federation are due to the lack of political agreement, including the appointment of judges of the FBiH Constitutional Court. Therefore, I don't see where is my responsibility there,” Čavara concluded.
