SARAJEVO, July 7 (FENA) – Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Zvizdić, together with members of the Joint Committee on Defense and Security of BiH Šemsudin Mehmedović and Marina Pendeš, is attending the 22nd Parliamentary Intelligence and Security Forum held in Bucharest.

Zvizdić participated in the discussion on the topic "War in Ukraine - reshaping the global security map" and on that occasion, he said that for almost five months the Ukrainian people, led by President Zelenskyi, have been defending their country against the brutal and unprovoked aggression of the Russian Federation.

He emphasized that the Ukrainian people do not only defend Ukraine, but also the international order, as well as the freedom of the whole of Europe, and reminded that Bosnia and Herzegovina, too, thirty years ago was exposed to brutal aggression accompanied by mass crimes, urbicide and genocide.

We in Bosnia and Herzegovina, he pointed out, have every right to talk about the current situation in Ukraine.

"Therefore, I want to send two clear messages. My first message is that the Ukrainian people have chosen the right side of history because they respect moral values and do not give up the honorable fight for the freedom of their homeland.

That being said, the entire democratic world is on their side. My second message is addressed to the international community. The same pattern was clearly recognized in the case of aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ukraine.

Unfortunately, Europe and the democratic world stopped the war in BiH only after four years of mass crimes, ethnic cleansing and genocide in Srebrenica. We must not allow the same scenario to repeat itself in Ukraine. At the same time, we must be aware of Russian influence in the Western Balkans, as well as the fact that peace and stability are directly under threat," said Zvizdić during his speech.

At the end of the address, Zvizdić said that if long-term peace is to be reached in Europe, then it is not enough to guarantee that only the Scandinavian countries become members of NATO, but it is also necessary that all the countries of the Western Balkans become full members of the European Union, and Bosnia and Herzegovina a full member of NATO as soon as possible.

"It is a formula for a safe and stable future of Europe because without a stable Western Balkans there can be no stable Europe," concluded Zvizdić in his address to the participants of the 22nd Parliamentary Intelligence and Security Forum in Bucharest.
