BAKU, June 16 (FENA) - Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Šefik Džaferović in his address at the opening ceremony of the 9th Global Baku Forum in the Azerbaijani capital spoke about the challenges to the global world order, noting that not everyone is equally responsible for the consequences of global crises.

Asked what to do to prevent or avoid crises, or mitigate the harmful consequences, he said that the answer is logical and simple, but unfortunately because of the world, as it is today, it is difficult to achieve.

- We all know that the answer lies in greater justice, unity, solidarity, international law, and strong and effective multilateral mechanisms. However, there is no way to achieve that. After every crisis, we say never again, and they are constantly repeated, and those for which man is responsible. Therefore, using the authority of the Baku Forum, we must constantly emphasize these things and be persistent in the fight for a better world - Džaferović pointed out.

He said that both the Caucasus and the Balkans are crossroads - places where different worlds meet. Often these places, being at the crossroads of the great empires, were the scene of conflict. But at the same time they were meeting places of civilizations and cultures.

- Exactly thanks to these meetings, new paradigms have been created in these places. Bosnia and Herzegovina is one such paradigm. My country is not one of the great world countries, but it is an extremely important country, even in the global context, precisely in its paradigm - Džaferović underlined.

As he stated, throughout its history, Bosnia and Herzegovina has been built as a community of diversity, developing special social practices and institutes, which were unknown to monoethnic societies. Knowledge and respect for other people's religious and traditional customs, as well as cultural syncretism and other practices, have over time become an integral part of the Bosnian identity that people in BiH are proud of.

- In the last few decades, through globalization, large economic migrations, and other processes, something unexpected has happened. Multiethnicity, which to many seemed a deviation specific to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Balkans, has become a feature of developed modern societies. It is now quite normal for people of all races and many cultures to live in one society. The whole world has become a crossroads. It is no longer a question of whether our societies can and should be multiethnic because they already are. The only question is how to organize life in them, for the benefit of all their members. The same is true for societies in the world, it is also true for the world as a whole, as a global society - said Džaferović.
