SARAJEVO, May 16 (FENA) - The obligation to hold regular and timely elections is one of the key commitments that Bosnia and Herzegovina has undertaken as an OSCE member state, said today in Sarajevo Head of the OSCE Mission to BiH Kathleen Kavalec.

“We welcome the move of the Central Election Commission of BiH, which called the elections, and we expect that the Council of Ministers of BiH will allocate the funds needed to organize the elections on time. No one has the right to deny the citizens of BiH the exercising of their democratic right, which is to vote in the elections,” said Kavelec.

The competent authorities, on the other hand, she added, have an obligation to take all steps in their power to organize the elections on time.

Kavelec did not want to speculate on what might happen in the future. She mentioned that the competent bodies of BiH are obliged to use the funds at their disposal to organize the elections, and that the international community is not in a position to bear those costs.
