SARAJEVO, April 17 (FENA) - Archbishop of Vrhbosna Msgr. Tomo Vukšić sent an Easter message on the occasion of the greatest Christian holiday of Easter, saying that it is a day when Catholics joyfully remember Jesus' victory over death, while listening to news of human suffering that should never happen to anyone and anywhere.
“In contrast to tragic conflicts, social peace is a moral imperative. It is a great human need and is always the result of good will, justice and agreement. It is maintained through dialogue, patience and respect, which should always be guided and equated with prudence,” Vukšić underlined.
He said that even a just law, if not guided by prudence, can easily turn into its opposite and that the peace the world gives, even when based on good will, is instantaneous and volatile because its duration and quality depend on third parties, social realities and unpredictable events.
On the other hand, Vukšić notes, the peace that Jesus gives and offers is different from the peace that the world gives because it is the peace of a good heart and a clear conscience, it is firm and stable in people and among people, it is for man but its source is not man neither human agreement nor law.
“The peace of Jesus is deep in the converted man. It is somewhere in the foundations of his existence and also governs the turbulent days of man's life. It is a peace that, when it exists, no one can take away precisely because it is a gift from God and because it is very deep. That peace is stable there in the human depths, even when adversity and danger strike at the visible life,” the archbishop said.
He wished all the priests, monks, nuns and all the faithful a happy and blessed Easter and cited the words of St. Paul asking "If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone”.
