SARAJEVO, April 10 (FENA) - The Sarajevo Film Center has fulfilled the precondition for putting the laboratory into operation and archiving the film material in the film depot, the center said.
Thanks to a grant from the US Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation, with the support of the American Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Sarajevo Film Center continues to equip the depot and laboratory of the former Jagomir studio.
In the previous stages, the water was connected, as well as the thermal insulation of the building, the installation of the facade, the roof covering and equipping of the laboratory, including setting up the heating.
The realized stages of the works also fulfilled the precondition for putting the laboratory into function and archiving the film material in the film depot, which required certain thermal and climatic conditions.
The film material has so far been archived in poor conditions and exposed to deterioration due to a dilapidated roof, low temperatures in the winter and the inability to ventilate the depot.
Members of the Sarajevo Film Center team were exposed to the same conditions, sacrificing themselves by working at low temperatures, without clean water and in rooms where film tapes emitting poisonous gases are dangerous to human health.
