SARAJEVO, February 15 (FENA) - During a meeting between representatives of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HJPC BiH) and the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), both sides underlined the importance of preserving the HJPC BiH institution and its activities throughout the country.
Matteo Mecacci, Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, and his associates Peter Mossop, Special Adviser and Representative of the ODIHR Director in Vienna, and Alexei Gromov, ODIHR Election Adviser, visited the HJPC BiH today.
Vice Presidents of the HJPC BiH Biljana Simeunović and Sanela Gorušanović-Butigan, a permanent member of the Presidency Sanin Bogunić and member of the HJPC BiH Lejla Hadžić held a meeting with ODIHR representatives and talked about the functioning of the HJPC BiH and the judicial system in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the importance of the rule of law and legal safety of all BiH citizens.
During the meeting, the importance of preserving the institution of the HJPC BiH and its activities on the entire territory of the state was emphasized and supported by the ODIHR delegation.
They also discussed potential cooperation between the HJPC BiH and the ODIHR in the coming period in areas related to judicial independence, the responsibility of judicial officials, more efficient prosecution of hate crimes and other issues, stated the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
