SARAJEVO, February 1 (FENA) - The handover of ventilators donated to Bosnia and Herzegovina by NATO's Euro-Atlantic Disaster Coordination and Response Center and the Government of the Republic of Hungary, worth 1,104,900 euros, took place today in Sarajevo.

The BiH Minister of Civil Affairs Ankica Gudeljević emphasizes that today's handover is proof that the joint action of various entities from the national or international level can contribute to achieving health security, protection and better health for all residents of BiH.

"Today, BiH is taking over 30 ventilators that are a donation in support of the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. The donated ventilators will be given to health institutions in accordance with the expressed needs, in such a way that the health institutions in the RS will receive 20 of them and the other ten will go to the Brčko District. The Federation of BiH has not expressed the need for these ventilators," the Minister explained.

She added that this medical equipment will enable an increase in the volume and quality of health services provided to coronavirus patients.

She reminded that in 2021, NATO donated the transport chambers with negative pressure, infrared contactless thermometers and portable X-ray devices with auxiliary equipment. She also reminded that the Republic of Hungary donated 200,000 doses of Sinofarm vaccine to BiH in the period when BiH was in a complex epidemiological situation.

The Ambassador of Hungary to BiH, Krisztian Posa, reminded of the assistance that this country provided to BiH in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. He believes that with today's donation, Hungary continues to serve the region in the neighborhood of Hungary, which includes BiH.

"I must emphasize that Hungary continues to support the European integration of BiH, because the European project cannot be completed without the full membership of the countries of the Western Balkans, which includes BiH. This is a matter of our common security, political and economic interest and that is why you can always count on Hungary's support," Posa concluded.
