SARAJEVO, August 5 (FENA) - The Embassy of Qatar in Bosnia and Herzegovina today at the Gazi Husrev-bey Library in Sarajevo signed two donation agreements with the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina worth about 3.5 million euros
The agreements were signed by the Ambassador of Qatar to BiH Sultan el-Khater and Raisu-l-ulama Husein effendi Kavazović.
The agreements are funded by the Ministry of Waqf and Islamic Affairs of the State of Qatar.
The first project in the amount of two million euros refers to the purchase of the Heco building in Baščaršija and its transformation into a waqf hotel, while the second project refers to the completion of the construction of the Islamic Center and the Lukavac mosque in the amount of 1.45 million euros.
In his address, Ambassador el-Khater said that "the State of Qatar seeks to strengthen relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina in the economic, cultural and educational fields."
“The first project has several goals, the most important of which is to increase the tourism potential of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and to contribute to solving youth unemployment in order to reduce their migration. The IC in BiH will use the profit from this project in strengthening its humanitarian and educational projects,” said El-Khater.
For the second project, the Ambassador of Qatar said that the goal, in addition to religious matters, is strengthening economic activity through the use of business premises within the center, and strengthening educational activities.
El-Khater stressed that the state of Qatar would continue to provide support to Bosnia and Herzegovina in all directions, to help it achieve its economic and educational goals, and enable a better life for its citizens."
