SREBRENICA, July 26 (FENA) - Twelve political parties from the entity of Republika Srpska at today's meeting unanimously supported the incumbent mayor of Srebrenica, Mladen Grujičić, as a joint candidate for mayor in the upcoming local elections.
Addressing the media after the meeting, the SNSD President Milorad Dodik said that they have achieved important political unity.
"It is very important to express political unity and to gather around the idea of a joint Serb candidate going to the polls, having in mind the special circumstances of this local community and the way mayor is elected," said Dodik.
After today's meeting in Srebrenica, the SDS announced that it would not have its own candidate.
"The majority of all political parties voted for the mayor Grujičić. The Serb Democratic Party is above all responsible and from the very beginning insisted, regardless of the candidacy of our good candidate, that unity and gathering around one candidate is a priority and precisely because of that responsibility we have accepted to be part of this majority. The party is strongly in favor of one candidate who will be the representative of the entire coalition and all citizens living in Srebrenica,," said the SDS President Mirko Šarović.
