SARAJEVO, July 17 (FENA) - FBiH Minister of Finance Jelka Milićević and Acting President of the Development Bank of the Federation of BiH Semir Fejzić signed two agreements today at the FBiH Government headquarters in Sarajevo, approved by the FBiH Government at today's session.

These are the Agreement on the Establishment of a Dedicated Long-Term Deposit - Guarantee Fund and the Agreement on the Provision of Financial Services within the Guarantee Fund between the FBiH Government and the Development Bank of FBiH.

The Agreement on the Establishment of a Dedicated Long-Term Deposit determines the sources of the initial 80 million KM for the establishment and maintenance of the Guarantee Fund, with the aim of ensuring its guarantee potential on the basis of which guarantees will be issued by the Federation of BiH credit guarantee programs established by the Regulation.

The second signed agreement refers to the provision of financial services within the Guarantee Fund between the FBiH Government and the Development Bank, for the implementation of which, also, no allocation of funds from the FBiH Budget is required.

Based on this agreement, the Government of FBiH will, among other things, determine the purpose for issuing guarantees of the Fund, maintain the total funds of the Fund for timely fulfillment of obligations under issued guarantees which must not be less than the initial amount of funds used to form the Guarantee Fund.

Acting President of the Management Board of the Development Bank of FBiH Semir Fejzić said that this day is important for the economy in FBiH.

“From the very beginning, some were skeptical whether the FBiH Development Bank, due to its previous status, could perform this task in the best way. With its capacity and results in the last seven months, the Development Bank has restored the trust of the FBiH Government, the FBiH Ministry of Finance, as well as the businesses themselves,” said Fejzić.

As he pointed out, the Guarantee Fund will certainly not solve all the problems in the economy of the Federation of BiH, but it represents a step forward in which the FBiH Government takes 50 percent of the risk from the commercial banks in order to avoid credit and investment delays.
