SREBRENICA, July 11 (FENA) - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said today that Srebrenica genocide is one of the most painful and shameful pages in the history.
“Although 25 years have passed since the genocide, our pain is still fresh. With each mass grave discovered, our hearts are split again,” he said.
Mothers are still waiting for their children to return, they have been searching for their loved ones for 25 years.
“We will never forget our martyrs, nor allow the genocide in Srebrenica to be forgotten. We will prosecute those responsible for the killings and massacres of our Bosnian brothers and sisters, and we will never leave you alone in your search for justice,” said President Erdogan.
Despite the tragedy, massacre and tears, he stressed, European politicians have not learned a lesson from Srebrenica massacre. The unbridled use of words and statements that encourage Islamophobia and xenophobia is a major source of concern for our future.
“In order not to experience a similar tragedy again, we must take on a significant responsibility together with international organizations. We are representatives of a civilization that has provided good examples of tolerance and peace for centuries. We must not allow differences in opinion and learning, ethnic and cultural differences to divide or turn us against each other. We must continue our fight for the rule of law convinced that if we are right, we are strong,” said the President of the Republic of Turkey in a video message on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Srebrenica genocide.
