POTOČARI, July 11 (FENA) - British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that a large number of perpetrators of the genocide in Srebrenica have still not been held responsible for the crimes and that there were those who would rather forget what happened there or deny its significance.

„We must not allow that to happen. We owe it to the victims and future generations to remember Srebrenica and ensure that it never happens again, ”Johnson said in his address marking the 25th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide.

He reminded us that 25 years ago, Europe witnessed the worst crime on its territory since the Second World War, when more than 8,000 Muslim men and boys were killed in the genocide in Srebrenica and when more than 20,000 women and children were forcibly deported.

„I want to join you once again in remembering the victims of these horrific events and expressing support for the families of the survivors in their fight for justice,“ Johnson said, adding that many families still do not know the fate of their loved ones.

He expressed pride in the role that Great Britain has played in the last 25 years in the fight for justice, including the work of British judges, lawyers and prosecutors.

„We will continue to work with you to eliminate prejudice and discrimination and create a more secure future with more hope for all,“ Johnson concluded in his address.
