SARAJEVO, July 7 (FENA) - President of the Croat Democratic Party (HDZ) BiH Dragan Čović confirmed after a meeting with the presidents of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) and the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) Bakir Izetbegović and Milorad Dodik that they agreed that the state budget procedure be completed by July 21.

The party leaders met in East Sarajevo today to discuss open issues between coalition partners, including the state budget adoption, changes to the Election Law regarding the elections in Mostar, and executive appointments.

“When it comes to staffing, we have not agreed on anything, but we basically keep the situation where it is with all those positions that we have singled out as important to us, but we will try to continue to agree bilaterally,” he explained.

Speaking about the appointment of Selmo Cikotić (SDA) as the Minister of Security of BiH, he announced that the HDZ would be against it, explaining such a decision with a request sent to them by veterans' associations, which is why they intend to respect it.

“We can outsmart each other who said what at the meeting, but we have said very clearly that as long as the Central Election Commission (CEC) is in this convocation, which was appointed contrary to the existing law, and even decisions were made unlawfully, we will treat that body in that way,” he added.

Čović says it is unacceptable for the HDZ “to share the Indirect Taxation Authority (ITA) with anyone".

“It belongs to the Croat people until we agree otherwise, such as the case with the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) and the Communications Regulatory Agency (CRA) defined as the positions that belong to the Serb people. The directors may be appointed at a session of the Council of Ministers on Thursday," said Čović.

“However, when it comes to the Intelligence and Security Agency (OSA), Bosniaks and Croats, i.e., SDA and HDZ, will have to agree on what I said about the CEC, the Central Bank and many other appointments made in the past few months against the will of the Croat people. As long as this is the situation in the CEC, the HDZ will stick to its position,” he underlined.
