Izetbegović: Tegeltija shall nominate Cikotić as Security Minister on Thursday

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, July 7 (FENA) - A step forward has been made when it comes to an agreement between the coalition partners at the state level, but there is a problem with the Croat side, the President of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) Bakir Izetbegovic told reporters in Sarajevo today.

He met today in East Sarajevo with the presidents of the Croat Democratic Union (HDZ) BiH and the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) Dragan Čović and Milorad Dodik.

Izetbegović explained that the Croat side was annoyed with the appointments to the BiH Central Election Commission (CEC).

He confirmed that the chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Zoran Tegeltija (SNSD), will nominate Selmo Cikotic (SDA) for the position of Minister of Security on Thursday, and that they will start with appointments to the leading positions in the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), Intelligence and Security Agency (OSA) and the Communications Regulatory Agency (CRA), as well as for other executive positions, more than 30 of them.

“The appointments will be based on the current agreement on ethnic representation, but we will try to reach an agreement with the Croat side for the Indirect Taxation Authority (ITA) to be led by the Bosniak side as we failed to resolve that today,” Izetbegović explained.

President of the SDA also confirmed that the party will not question the names of the persons proposed by the other two parties unless the persons prove to be convicted war criminals or if the person does not pass the legally prescribed verification procedure.

When it comes to the adoption of the state budget, which was proposed in both houses of the Parliamentary Assembly to be considered under the urgent procedure, the party leaders are now proposing that it should done under the shortened procedure.

Izetbegović says that the Croat caucus at tomorrow's session of the House of Peoples would not accept that the financial document be considered in an urgent procedure, and another month or two would be lost for the adoption of the budget.

The adoption of the budget in the shortened procedure should be completed by July 21 at the latest, because the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly should convene once again this week, and the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament should convene by July 21.

According to the SDA leader, the issue of amendments to the Election Law concerning the local elections in Mostar should be resolved today at the House of Representatives and tomorrow at the session of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
