SARAJEVO, July 6 (FENA) - Member of the Collegium of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH and President of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) Bakir Izetbegović told reporters today in Sarajevo regarding the adoption of the budget of the BiH institutions for 2020, that he was confused about the statements made by the HDZ BiH leader Dragan Čović that the state budget proposal should go into the regular procedure.

"It's taking so long. Everyone has had the opportunity to say what they wanted. Minister Vjekoslav Bevanda proposed a budget as such, on behalf of the HDZ. He should have included their views in that proposal,” stated Izetbegović.

He expressed hope that things would not go in that direction, adding that "we need to hurry with the budget in order to meet the conditions for holding the local elections."

Asked whether they have reached an agreement when it came to appointments, he answered that everyone should be left to appoint people from their own ranks, "and we should not to get into those things".

He says that the SDA has behaved like that so far, except when it came to the appointment of the Minister for Human Rights and Refugees of BiH, because it was a joint proposal.

"This mantra from the Croat side that they are endangered is constantly repeated," Izetbegović added.

“But when you put those numbers on paper, then you see that in fact one nation which, according to the Constitution, should hold 50 percent of all executive positions, is usually reduced to 33, 35, 40 percent.

Therefore, through the negotiations that we will have with the HDZ regarding the implementation of the judgments of the Constitutional Court and the Court of Human Rights from Strasbourg, this will also be one of the important topics,” stated Izetbegović.

He added that the SDA "has never asked for anything other than what the Constitution prescribes and what the rule of law is."

When it comes to the elections in Mostar, Izetbegović said that the city of Mostar is the issue that has been resolved.

“I hope that the Serb side will not ask for some impossible things now, because this cannot be changed anymore. This matter needs to be adopted, and as far as the SDA is concerned, it intends to lend a hand to the Serbs in Mostar and do everything to make them feel truly equal with the other two constituent peoples in Mostar,” said Izetbegović.
