Gender Equality Committee discusses the problem of increased domestic violence

SARAJEVO, July 6 (FENA) - The problem of increased violence against women in BiH was discussed at the session of the Gender Equality Committee of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina on Monday.

After the discussion, the Committee concluded to request the Agency for Gender Equality of BiH to submit, within 15 days, a thorough and comprehensive report on the Information and implementation of the intervention plan on violence against women and children in BiH, with special reference to violence during the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), stated the BiH Parliamentary Assembly.

It was also concluded that monthly reports on the state of domestic violence should be requested from the Gender Center of the Federation of BiH and the Gender Center of the Republika Srpska, with special reference to violence during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Committee also concluded to request from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Federation of BiH, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republika Srpska and the Police of the Brčko District of BiH to submit, within 15 days, statistical data on violence against women for the period from March 2020 to date, as well as comparative data on the situation in the same period for 2018 and 2019.
