Čerkez: Declaring an epidemic would have no implications for population

SARAJEVO, July 3 (FENA) - The eventual declaration of an epidemic in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina due to the spread of coronavirus would not have implications for population, but would mean easing procedures for relevant institutions involved in the problem, i.e. providing additional funding from the FBiH budget.

“In order for the epidemic to be declared for the entire Federation of BiH, the Ministry of Health needs a positive opinion from the Ministry of Finance, but there is no such decision yet, unlike the Legislation Office and the Ministry of Justice which submitted their opinion,” FBiH Assistant Minister for Public Health, Goran Čerkez confirmed for FENA.

He reminds that the permit for declaring the state of epidemic in Sarajevo and Tuzla cantons was given earlier, but that these cantons have not declared it so far.

The FBiH Government, at yesterday's session, adopted information on worsening of the epidemiological situation in FBiH.
