Đapo issues an appeal to BiH CoM to consider opening the borders

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, July 2 (FENA) - The FBiH Minister of Environment and Tourism Edita Đapo called on the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina to abandon the policy of reciprocity and to urgently consider the possibility of opening the borders of Bosnia and Herzegovina for citizens of the European Union and other countries.

“Bosnia and Herzegovina is not in a situation to have reciprocity towards the European Union. We have to fight to save our tourism sector, and we cannot do that without the arrival of foreign tourists. Therefore, I call on the Council of Ministers to open the borders to foreign nationals.

All tourists, citizens of the European Union and Bosnia and Herzegovina and the diaspora that hold passports from other European countries should have the opportunity to come to BiH," said Minister Đapo.

She pointed out that the appeal to the Council of Ministers of BiH is addressed on behalf of all tourism workers in the Federation of BiH, who are asking for a reaction from the authorities, regardless of the decision of the European Union.

“Hotels and accommodation sector, travel agencies and tourist guides see the salvation of the tourism season primarily in the arrival of foreign tourists. And for that to happen, the Council of Ministers must open the borders for the arrival of tourists in BiH,” stressed Đapo, announced the FBiH Ministry of Environment and Tourism.
