SARAJEVO, June 18 (FENA) - Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH Fadil Novalić and FBiH Minister for Issues of Veterans and Disabled Veterans of Defensive-Liberation War Salko Bukvarević held a meeting today with representatives of veterans' organizations of RBiH Army and HVO and discussed issues of veterans.
According to Prime Minister Novalić, the meeting is the first in a series planned to be held quarterly, and he announced meetings with other categories in the coming days.
“At the time of the coronavirus pandemic, it is a sign of stabilization in our society. Everyone knows that we cooperated extremely well, with veteran population on a daily basis, but the appearance of the coronavirus pandemic stopped us in a certain way and made us passive. At the beginning of the pandemic, at the first sessions of the Government, we said we would solve the pandemic, but at the same time keep and preserve the stability of social benefits, especially the pension fund, veterans and civilian disability benefits,” said Novalić.
He stated that in the past three and a half months, the Government has, in a certain way, as he said, gained experience of how the pandemic affects our society.
Minister Bukvarević emphasized that during the pandemic, the veteran population was a stabilizing factor in a difficult situation.
“They had understanding for the Government, which had an obligation and fulfilled it completely for 103.000 beneficiaries of veteran disability protection. Every month, disability benefits and allowances were paid on time, which we will continue in the future. Today, we underlined the commitment of both the Ministry and the Government that these are the most important categories of citizens for us,” Bukavrević pointed out.
