NOVI GRAD / BOSANSKI NOVI, June 17 (FENA) - Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina Staša Košarac said today that Bosnia and Herzegovina will not give up on preventing the construction of radioactive and nuclear fuel waste disposal site at Trgovska Gora in neighboring Croatia, on the border with BiH, and that he expects the formation of a state expert and legal team in the coming days.
Košarac emphasized that the team will consist of representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, the competent entity ministries and the Director of the Agency for Nuclear Safety of BiH.
He pointed out that they held the last meeting regarding the consultations yesterday and that he expects that an expert and legal team to be formed in the next 15 days.
He says he is encouraged by the fact that the Presidency of BiH has reached concrete conclusions regarding the actions of all institutions in BiH regarding the issue of Trgovska Gora and that they are united in preventing the construction of radioactive waste disposal, given the fact that they must protect the health of 250,000 inhabitants in 13 municipalities in BiH.
He expressed hope that we would preserve good bilateral relations with Croatia, but that it was very important for BiH to use all the rights it has at its disposal in this case.
Mayor of Novi Grad/Bosanski Novi, Miroslav Drljača said that the Republic of Croatia must change the location of the planned nuclear waste site.
“For the first time, BiH is to adopt some kind of a plan in the case of Trgovska gora and an approach towards solving the problem,” said Drljača.
