FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, June 16 (FENA) - Minister of Human Rights and Refugees in the Council of Ministers of BiH Miloš Lučić received in an official visit Matthew Holliday, Head of the Western Balkans Program of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP).

The issue of missing persons almost 25 years after the war is still one of the key issues in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees will work to improve cooperation with ICMP in order to solve this problem systematically, stated the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH.

More than 23.000 of 30.000 missing persons have been identified in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and 7.000 are still listed as missing, it is said in a statement.

The Ministry will work to resolve this issue so that all families of the missing finally get the answers they are looking for. The role of the families of missing persons is extremely important and it is necessary to include them in the search process itself.

The participants in the meeting agreed that a joint meeting with the BiH Missing Persons Institute Advisory Board should be organized soon.

Head of ICMP’s Western Balkans Program invited Minister Lučić to visit the ICMP laboratory in Tuzla, whose operating methods from BiH are applied in Syria, Iraq, Mexico and other countries, it is said in the statement.
