Dodik: Cikotić’s appointment is a problem, RS govt. to provide funds to CEC BiH

BANJA LUKA, June 12 (FENA) - The leader of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) Milorad Dodik said today that the party would not support the appointment of the new Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina “until the appointments of the candidates for some of the state-level agencies are carried out since all the set procedures have been completed.”

Dodik says he was not officially informed that Selmo Cikotić is the SDA candidate for the Minister of Security, but, he says, he has a problem with this choice “because of Cikotić's statements in which he spoke in an unacceptable manner about the Serb people.”

The executive board of the SNSD took the said position, as he said, “because Bosniaks previously took it upon themselves to decide on the candidate for the Minister of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH".

He believes that the situation in BiH will get even more complicated, because the situation in the Federation of BiH and the relations between the representatives of Bosniaks and Croats, as he says, further produce issues at the state level as well.

Dodik stated that the SNSD proposed to the RS government to allocate the funds necessary for the conduct of local elections in the entity to the BiH Central Election Commission today or on Monday, in case the BiH Council of Ministers does not reach a consensus on that issue.

The SNSD still insists that the local elections be held in October as it was originally planned.

When it comes to criminal charges, as the PDP claims, related to the alleged corruption affair with the procurement of ventilators in the RS, Dodik says that “many criminal charges, which everyone has the right to file, have not had any effect before, except for the purpose of daily politicking.

Dodik added that he did not know who the DNS candidate would be for the Minister of Public Administration and Local Self- Government, and that the coalition with that party continues, “regardless of the problems in Prijedor."
