SARAJEVO, June 7 (FENA) - The Board of Directors of the Association of BH Journalists and the Help Line for Assistance to Journalists sent a public protest to the Cantonal Board of the political party A-SDA Zenica over the physical attack on Sinan Gluhić, a journalist of RTV Zenica.
According to the information available to the BH Journalists, on Friday morning in downtown Zenica, a member of the A-SDA party, Sulejman Spahić, physically attacked journalist Sinan Gluhić ND inflicted him minor injuries. The attack on Gluhić's was preceded by several days of verbal threats and insults from members of the party's leadership via telephone and social networks, especially Facebook, the Association of BH Journalists warned.
"The Board of BH Journalists Association strongly condemns the verbal violence and endangering the safety of Sinan Gluhić, and demands from the MoI of the Zenica-Doboj Canton (ZDC) an urgent investigation of the attack, as well as taking legal action to ensure the punishment of the attacker, Sulejman Spahić, and others behind this brutal act. It is inadmissible for political parties, in this case, A-SDA in ZDC, to deal with journalists by using force or online violence, abusing political power and violating the fundamental principles of media freedom and safety of journalists.
The BHJournalists and the Helpline for Journalists will inform the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ), as well as other relevant international organizations for the protection and safety of journalists about threats and physical attacks on Sinan Gluhić, stated the Journalists' Association.
