TUZLA, June 5 (FENA) - Head of the European Union Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the EU Special Representative in BiH, Ambassador Johann Sattler, today officially opened the newly built Municipal Court building in Tuzla, for which the EU Delegation allocated around 4.5 million KM.
During his visit to Tuzla Canton, Ambassador Sattler also visited the buildings of the Cantonal Court and the Prosecutor's Office in Tuzla and met with representatives of the cantonal and city authorities. Previously, he handed over a valuable donation in medical equipment to the University Clinical Center Tuzla.
The President of the Municipal Court in Tuzla, Muhamed Tulumović, said at the opening that this court has its own building for the first time since its establishment, in 1963.
The coronavirus pandemic prevented the Head of the EU Delegation in BiH from opening a new court building in March.
“Citizens of this country have the right to adequate services of courts and prosecutor's offices. Citizens want to see fair trials, which end within a reasonable time, and most importantly, to see that no one is above the law," Sattler said.
In recent years, the EU has allocated 20 million KM for reconstruction and equipping of BiH judicial institutions, half of which ended up in the Tuzla Canton.
During the day, Ambassador Suttler met with TC Prime Minister Tulumović and his associates.
